“We could have written a paper about pesticides, but instead we got to see how it could affect everyone. We got to look at things from many different angles, and use all of our skills: mapping, organizing, writing, etc.”
— Student, Mount Baker Middle School, Mount Vernon, Washington

The Integrated Environmental Health Middle School Project (IEHMSP) engages students in community-based projects that empower them to make informed, responsible choices about their health and environment. By studying EH issues across the disciplines of language arts, social studies, science and math, students develop competency in identifying problems, assembling data, arriving at solutions, and communicating findings. Students research environmental health topics in their communities and address important issues such as environmental justice, human health, and individual rights. Teachers receive training, curriculum materials, local resources, and ongoing support.

Please explore this site to learn more about the IEHMSP, and to find materials and resources for teachers, students, and community.
